Overview of the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge in Orlando
Completely unique and exciting in every way, even as you drive up to this African Themed Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge it is easy to see why it gets some of the most praise of any of the Disney World Resorts. Walk in to the front entrance and prepare to be in awe from the 4 story lobby with thatch roof and plenty of African art pieces to look at. From the massive back stairs that lead you down to the Savanna to the multiple wings of rooms, it will take you some time to get your bearings on your first visit. Many of the Staff are actually from other countries and are very excited to share information about Africa and where they live. Be ready for the adventure of a lifetime and visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Disney World.
Rooms and Suites
If you are staying on a budget, the standard rooms will be the least expensive option for you to book. Each of these rooms have different configurations with 2 Queen Beds, or a Single Queen and a Bunk Bed or even a King with a Day Bed. The best views, of course are the rooms looking out on the Savanna but they are also the most expensive. If you need to sleep more than 4 guests or you just want to have more room, consider staying in one of the One or Two Bedroom Suites at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The 2 Bedroom Suite can accommodate up to 8 guests while the 1 Bedroom can handle 6 comfortably. The African Theme is carried throughout the entire resort and in to all of the guestrooms as well. Many of the rooms also have a Balcony to enjoy the surroundings. Again, the best views are from the rooms with a Savanna view.
Things to do
Most guests feel that having the Animals roaming on the Savanna all day is enough of an attraction for them but there is much more to take in when you visit the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge. The whole family will enjoy the large Pools at this resort. Lush grounds surround you as you swim along in the Pool or take a ride down one of 3 different Water Slides. The Uzima Pool, located at the main Lodge is the largest of the 2 pools but the Samawati Springs Pool has the larger water slide and also a kids splash area. As you get out of the Uzima Pool, you are immediately surrounded by the Savanna. Talk to some of the guides and get their unique perspective on the animals and their habitat. Take the family to one of the Jambo House Campfire events at night and be entertained while roasting marshmallows on the fire.
The Animal Kingdom Lodge is known to have some of the best cuisine in Disney World. If you want fine dining, make a reservation for Jiko or Boma. Quick Service options are also available near the Uzima Pool at The Mara. Dine inside or out.
