Overview of the Disney’s Art of Animation in Orlando

Have you ever wondered how the Disney Animators draw their characters. This is just one of the fascinating things you get to see when you visit the Disney World Art of Animation Value Resort. As soon as you enter the main hall to check in, you will start to see rough drawings to completed projects of your favorite Disney Characters on each of the walls. Go ahead, take some time to study them because at this resort, you will also have the option to take a class to learn how to draw them yourself, well, at least your kids will.

Rooms and Suites

Yes, it says Suites and even though the Disney Art of Animation Resort is a Value property, most of the accommodations are Suites. Each of the Suites can hold up to 6 guests, have a small kitchenette and a private Bedroom for the adults to have some time away. If you are looking for the best deal, there are a limited number of standard rooms in the Little Mermaid section. You will want to book these well in advance because they do not stay around very long. Sit down with the kids and have them help you to determine which themed area you would like to stay in. Choose from Finding Nemo, the Lion King, the Little Mermaid or Cars.

Things to do

The most fun will be sure to come from swimming in the largest of the three (3) outdoor pools, located in the Finding Nemo themed section. This pool is unique in many ways. It is the only Pool at a Disney Value Resort with Zero-Entry access which is a great safety feature. But wait until your kids get in the water and realize that the music they hear is actually coming from under the sea. This is the only Disney Value pool that has underwater speakers. They will listen in amazement and you will too. A large arcade is located in the main hall just in case the weather turns dreary for a little while.

Dining

The Dining at the Art of Animation Resort is setup like a large cafeteria with multiple Food Court locations where you can get the type of food that fits you for the day. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are served at this location.

 PROS

Pros:
Overall, this Value Disney Resort gets the best marks of them all, weighing in at nearly 90% positive feedback. Many of the guests really like the fact that most of the accommodations are larger suites. The suites add that extra touch with a separate room for the adults to get away if needed for a bit. Our kids really enjoyed the Big Blue Pool and what a great experience they had at the character drawing class.

 CONS

Cons:
Even though the Disney Transportation takes you directly to your destination, we did have to wait at times longer than expected. The food is a little overpriced for what you get in a food court. There are a few people who mention that the staff is not as courteous as some of the Moderate or Deluxe Resorts they have stayed at in the past.
